Check-in and check-out
Checking in with public transport chip card is easy. At the start of your trip, hold the card against the card reader at a gate in a metro station, or hold it against the card reader on the bus or tram. Do this again at the end of your trip, or when transferring. The card reader calculates the trip fare and whether you receive a discount. The costs will be deducted from the balance on your public transport chip card.
You still need to check in and out, even if you have a season ticket. You have to do this, as it is not yet clear to the system where you are travelling to when checking in. Perhaps you will be travelling further than your season ticket permits.
A valid ticket for public transport can only be obtained by checking in. Without a valid check-in, you risk a fine.
