Holiday service Summer 2023

Starting next Saturday, 8 July, the holiday service timetable will come into effect. Because there is less passenger traffic during the summer months, several bus, tram and metro lines will run to modified timetables. The metro to Hoek van Holland Strand (Beach) runs more often during the summer.

Fewer bus services during the 2023 holiday timetable

Due to staff shortages, RET runs fewer buses during the summer holidays (from 8 July to 20 August) than the normal holiday timetable. In most cases, that will mean fewer services, which may mean longer waiting or transfer times for passengers. Some lines won't be running at all. For those lines, there are alternatives that involve walking further and/or additional transfers.

You can plan your travel at www.ret.nl or in the RET app.

Amended bus services during the 2023 holiday period

  • Line 38 Central Station – Crooswijk: This line will be suspended. For Crooswijk, use tramline 8. In addition, for the Noorderbrug stop, travelers can use the Noordsingel tramstop (line 4) and the Meent and Boezemsingel tramstops (lines 7 and 8).
  • Line 65 Poortugaal Metro – Overhoeken: this line will be suspended. Most users of this line are students at the MCA Music Center Albrandswaard, who do not travel during the summer holidays. Other passengers can use local buses 602 and 612.
  • Rush hour line 283 Zuidplein – Kralingse Zoom: this line will be suspended. Line 183 Zuidplein – Kralingse Zoom will continue to run; line 83 will also run during rush hour. Consequently, between Keizerswaard and Zuidplein there will be a bus departing from most stops every half hour instead of every 15 minutes during rush hour. Passengers from the Swinleede, Ziedewijdsebaan and De Kolk stops can use the nearby Middeldijk (line 183), Park Buitenoord (line 84), De Driesprong (line 84) and Middenbaan (line 183) stops. Allow for additional walking time and, depending on the destination, additional transfers.
  • Line 142 Zuidplein – Slikkerveer: Bus line 142 will not run on Saturdays. Line 144 will be running; as a result, there will be a bus between Zuidplein and Slikkerveer every half hour instead of every 15 minutes.
  • Rush hour line 143 Zuidplein – Ridderkerk: This line will be suspended. Passengers can use line 144 to Zuidplein and/or line 145 to Kralingse Zoom. The Zwaluw stop will only be served by line 145. Please allow for additional travel time and/or transfers.
  • Rush hour line 187 Zuidplein – Nieuw-Reijerwaard: this line will temporarily be shortened by one stop. The Peterselieweg bus stop will be suspended. Use the Hotel van der Valk stop, where line 146 stops. There will also be a minor route change to line 187 within Rotterdam. Towards Nieuw-Reijerwaard, the Spinozaweg stop will be suspended, but there will be an additional stop at the adjacent Van de Woestijnestraat stop. Please allow for additional walking time.
